BIKEPACKING KYRGYZSTAN

Project Idea

The idea of creating the Bikepacking Gear Library belongs to Aishoola Aisaeva.
In 2023, Aishoola, together with Aiperi, took part in the SRMR race in Kyrgyzstan. Later, Aiperi rode the Turkish section of the TCR, becoming a recipient of the Mike Hall Bursary of this European ultra-distance race.
They became the first local women to start the SRMR. Their participation was preceded by extensive preparation, and along this journey the women received tremendous support from the global bikepacking community. People shared advice, exchanged experience, made donations and—most importantly—passed on gear without which participation in such events would have been impossible.
The BIKEPACKINGKYRGYZSTAN.CC covered Aishoola’s and Aiperi’s preparation for the SRMR.
Aiperi provided several items to me for personal use.
Aishoola, in turn, donated all of her gear, which will form the foundation of the Bikepacking Gear Library.
Why a Gear Library
The Library is created for those who want to try long routes, self-supported travel, or participation in bikepacking events and races. The Gear Library exists to:
  • make bikepacking gear accessible in Kyrgyzstan
  • support travelers who need equipment
  • provide an opportunity to test gear before purchasing
  • help those who are just starting their journey in bikepacking
How it works
The Gear Library brings together bags, equipment, and accessories proven in real races and expeditions. All gear is available for temporary use—for routes, trips, training rides, and races.
This is a rental system, but not in the classic sense. We see the Library as a tool of mutual support, based on trust and responsibility.
Community
The Gear Library is a continuation of the very solidarity that Aishoola and Aiperi experienced while preparing for the SRMR and TCR.
Sustainability
The sustainability of the Library is ensured through a rental model with a flexible price range—from friendly (non-profit) to economically viable ones. Everyone has the right to choose the amount they pay. The sustainability and long-term success depend directly on your contribution.
